The Hillside School is an extended family of students, alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, administration and The Board of Trustees, as well as professional and community supporters.
Over the past 33 years, The Hillside School has become recognized as a benchmark institution for educating children with language-based learning disabilities. Founded in 1983, The Hillside School opened its doors to ten students at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit in Emmaus, PA. In 1989, The Hillside School moved to its current seven-acre location in Lower Macungie Township. Due to a demand for educational services and the growing support from our community, we have since added a state-of-the-art computer lab, art center, science lab and a classroom dedicated to speech and language lessons.
A Hillside Family includes the parents, siblings and grandparents of our students and alumni. We always encourage family members to be actively involved. Parents are always in direct communication with their children’s teachers and are welcome to visit the school at any time. The Hillside School serves as a life-long resource for families to continue to grow and learn.
Our alumni have a strong educational foundation and the strategies they need for continuing success in academics and their chosen careers. Many of our alumni have been accepted to and graduated from schools like Moravian Academy and The Swain School. Many have gone on to colleges and universities such as Kutztown University, Lycoming College, DeSales University, Julliard School, Georgetown University, Temple and Syracuse University.
Our expert teachers and professional staff are the heart of The Hillside School. Each member of our team has specialized skills and caring personalities that help to create a one-of-a-kind learning experience for each child. Hillside teachers and staff continue to study current research and learn the latest teaching practices so that our students receive the best education possible. MEET OUR FACULTY
