    A  full-time guidance counselor is on staff at The Hillside School to provide on-going support to students, parents, and teachers. Professional assistance is available through programs that focus on education, counseling and consultation. Guidance support is focused on helping the student with a learning difference succeed academically and socially both at Hillside and in future settings.  read more...

  • Library/Media Center

    The Hillside School Library Media Center is a gateway to the world of traditional (printed) and non-traditional (electronic) information. Here students, staff, and parents enjoy an organized environment where they may find fiction and non-fiction materials on a wide range of reading levels, suitable for a variety of recreational and educational purposes. In addition, The Hillside School maintains a current collection of materials for parents who are interested in reading about issues related to learning differences. read more...

  • Physical Education

    Physical Education

    Each student is provided with physical education twice weekly. The physical education curriculum includes individual activities, team sports and lifetime sports. Younger students primarily focus on visual/perceptual and gross motor skills, which prepare them for organized team sport skills as they progress to older grades. Older students are involved in a wide variety of individual sports and team sports. read more...

  • Speech and Language

    The Hillside School employs a full-time speech/language pathologist. Students’ speech and language skills are evaluated on an on-going basis. An initial evaluation is completed using standardized tests after being enrolled in the school.  Focus areas are identified from the evaluation, observation, and teacher input.  Students are re-evaluated every other year thereafter and upon exiting to a new school. read more...
