THE HILLSIDE SCHOOL OFFERS THREE PROGRAMS:
- Summer Academy (Post-Kindergarten – Grade 6)
- Study Skills Program (Grades 6 – 8 )
- Summer Skills Review Program (Entering Grades 1-6)
SUMMER ACADEMY
The goal of our Summer Academy (9:00 A.M. – 3:30 P.M.) is to build on what students have learned during the school year. Students review reading, writing, and math skills both in small group and individual settings. Computer technology is used to enrich both language arts and math skills. Learning strategies are presented, modeled and practiced. The recreational program in the afternoon focuses on listening skills, following directions, peer interactions and the development of social skills. Additional computer instruction is offered the second week. The activities include keyboarding and instruction in assistive technology to improve writing skills.
STUDY SKILLS PROGRAM
The Study Skills Program (9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M.) is aimed at helping students learn new academic strategies and strengthen their language arts skills. Organizational skills are emphasized and practiced daily during this two-week period. Students create a Strategy Stack, a compilation of strategies written on index cards. This Strategy Stack has proven to be a valuable resource for these students.
THE HILLSIDE BOOST
The Hillside Boost Program is aimed at helping students review, reinforce, and enrich skills they have learned during the school year. Four one-week sessions are offered in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, social skills, and fitness.

SUMMER ACADEMY TWO WEEK SESSION JULY 9 - 20, 2012 Three choices: Academics 9:00 am - 1:00 pm Cost $495 for two week session Computer & Recreation 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm Cost $200 for two week session Full Day Program 9:00 am - 3:30 pm Cost $695 for two week session In our academic program certified teachers work with groups of eight or less to help your child find the best way to learn. Study Skills Program
July 9th - July 20th, 2012 9am – 12 noon Cost: $475 per student STUDENTS ENTERING GRADES 6-8 WILL RECEIVE THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTION: Reading Comprehension Summarization Writing and Proofreading Skills Vocabulary Development Boost Confidence Time Management Skills Students will also create a strategy notebook as a reference to transfer learned skills and experience the camaraderie of small group instruction. The Hillside Boost
July 30 - August 10, 2012 The Hillside Boost program helps students keep the skills and strategies they learned in school and offers targeted skills sessions in reading, writing, math social skills and creative drama. All with small class sizes and a multisensory approach. read more...
