The Hillside School is an extended family of students, alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, administration and The Board of Trustees, as well as professional and community supporters.
Over the past 35 years, The Hillside School has become recognized as a benchmark institution for educating children with language-based learning disabilities. Founded in 1983, The Hillside School opened its doors to ten students at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit in Emmaus, PA. In 1989, The Hillside School moved to its current seven-acre location in Lower Macungie Township. Due to a demand for educational services and the growing support from our community, we have since added a computer lab, art room, science lab and middle school library.
A Hillside Family includes the parents, siblings and grandparents of our students and alumni. We encourage family members to be actively involved. Parents have daily communication with their children’s teachers and are welcome to visit the school. The Hillside School serves as a lifelong resource for families.
Our alumni have a strong educational foundation and the strategies they need for continuing success in academics and their chosen careers. Many have gone on to colleges and universities such as Kutztown University, Lycoming College, DeSales University, Juilliard School, Georgetown University, Temple and Syracuse University.
Our expert teachers and professional staff are the heart of The Hillside School. Each member of our team has specialized skills and caring personalities that help to create a one-of-a-kind learning experience for each child.
Board of Trustees
Our Board of Trustees is responsible for establishing policies that support the school’s mission. Their support and advisement is the lifeline of The Hillside School’s continuing growth.
