Elementary School Teacher - Specializing in Language-Based Learning Differences

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement specialized instructional plans tailored to meet the unique needs of students with language-based learning differences.
- Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active participation and encourages student growth and self-advocacy.
- Utilize evidence-based strategies and multisensory techniques to facilitate language development, reading, writing, and communication skills.
- Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and support staff to design and deliver comprehensive intervention programs.
- Employ assistive technology and adaptive tools effectively to enhance learning experiences for students.
- Regularly assess student progress using a variety of diagnostic tools and provide individualized feedback to students and parents/guardians.
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, and maintain open lines of communication regarding student progress, accommodations, and strategies.
- Stay abreast of current research and best practices in the field of language-based learning differences and actively pursue professional development opportunities.
- Adhere to school policies and procedures to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification/license in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain certification.
- Specialization or additional training in teaching students with language-based learning differences (LETRS, Orton-Gillingham certification, Wilson Reading System, etc.) is highly preferred.
- Proven experience working with students with language-based learning differences in a school setting.
- In-depth knowledge of language development, literacy instruction, and evidence-based interventions for students with learning challenges.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using assistive technology and adaptive tools for students with learning differences.
- Dedication to ongoing professional development in the field of language-based learning differences.
