School Tour

Choosing the right school is an important decision. A private tour is the best way to experience The Hillside School, see our students in action, and learn how our supportive environment helps every learner thrive.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will the tour take?

Tours typically last about 30–45 minutes. This gives families time to walk through the building, see classrooms in action when appropriate, and have a focused conversation about your child and whether Hillside may be the right fit.

Is there any parking nearby?

Yes. Families may park in the main school lot directly in front of the building.

Will the tour be cancelled due to weather?

If The Hillside School has a weather-related closure, Flexible Instruction Day (FID), or delay, tours will be rescheduled. If weather is questionable, we will communicate directly with families as soon as a decision is made.

If I need to reschedule, what should I do?

We completely understand that schedules change. Simply reply to your confirmation email or contact the Admissions Office and we will gladly find another date and time that works for you.

Should my child attend the tour?

Families are welcome to decide what feels best for them, however we generally prefer that the initial tour be a parent visit. This allows for open conversation about your child’s learning profile and gives parents space to ask detailed questions. Students will have an opportunity to visit the school during their scheduled student visit day later in the admissions process.

Do you review my child’s evaluations before the tour?

If you have recent evaluations, an IEP, or progress reports, you are welcome to share them ahead of time or bring them with you. This helps make our conversation more personalized and meaningful.

What grades does Hillside serve?

The Hillside School serves students in grades K-9. We specialize in supporting students with language-based learning differences such as dyslexia, ADHD, and related learning profiles.

What makes Hillside different from a traditional school?

Hillside offers small class sizes, structured literacy instruction, individualized academic support, and a strong focus on social-emotional growth. Our approach is personalized, research-based, and designed to build both skills and confidence.

What is the admissions process after the tour?

After the tour, families may choose to submit an application. The process typically includes a student visit day, review of records and evaluations, and a team discussion to ensure Hillside is the right fit for the student.

Do you offer financial aid?

Yes. Hillside offers need-based financial aid to qualifying families. We are happy to walk families through that process during or after the tour.

Is transportation provided?

Transportation varies by district. Some public school districts provide busing to Hillside within certain mileage limits. We are happy to discuss your specific district during your visit.
